I remember in 1989 when I signed up for a “painting class” through our local high school adult education program.  I brought along the few tubes of oil paints I’d saved from my high school years and a couple of brushes I’d used during my “ceramics phase.”  What a surprise when the teacher announced watercolor was the chosen medium.  After the first class I felt sure that watercolor was not for me, but with the encouragement of a fine teacher I did indeed stick with it and ultimately ended up enjoying it immensely.  A couple of years ago I dusted off and reopened my oil paints and have begun to rekindle my relationship with this accommodating and flexible medium.  What fun I am having.  This piece is one of my first little successes.  Stay tuned - I’m planning to get better and better, but I know this will only happen with loads and loads of practice!  Stay tuned!
