I spent the morning digging out of about a foot of snow. The forecasters were warning in their alarmist way on Friday morning but this snow came in the night while I was sleeping. I woke in the morn to find the sun shining brightly and a thick blanket of snow on the ground.
I immediately checked the bird feeders, donned my boots and pushed through the snow to fill then up. Having taken on the responsibility of feeding the birds this winter today I knew that the birds would need my modest offering more than ever with nature’s bounty covered under a deep, soft snow. Afterward I pushed my way through the snow out to the garage for more kindling and after getting a fire started I made breakfast – hot coffee, scrambled eggs with red peppers, onions and cheese (of course). There would be no rush to removed the snow this morning. The snow would surely wait for me.
