Hot diggity dog! I’ve actually done it. I set a goal and accomplished it. Holy cow, Holy Toledo and cowabunga! I didn’t know I had it in me but here I am after one month of blogging and there is an entry for every single day in January. What’s even more amazing is that I didn’t cheat or fudge it like I could have.
Even the problems I encounted with my home Internet connection, being out of commission for a few days, didn’t deter me. What I did on those days is write, draw, scan, save to my zip drive and then post from an alternate location (also known as work). And finally here I am on January 31st ready to post this last piece for month.
It was funny how each day there always seemed to be something say. Even in a life like mine that is what you might call boring there was always something to report. Some days the only thing to report was a cute cat thing I might have witnessed or perhaps the only thing to say is “I made a rockin pot of spaghetti sauce.” But these are noteworthy moments.
That’s what life really is… a collection of noteworthy moments. Very few of us are rockstars with WOW and HOLY COW happening all the time. For most of us our lives are filled with softer, low profile things like watching the deer out your back window or sitting on the couch with a purring cat in your lap. Those kinds of moments nourish the soul but only if we give ourselves permission to put the world on pause so we can enjoy them.
That’s the thing about writing – whether it’s in your own private journal or on a blog like this one – the writing forces you to pause and contemplate the day for those golden moments that might otherwise be forgotten. I encourage everyone to grab a pen and paper and write! You’ll be amazed at how much fun it can be even if nobody is listening.
